ZD Racing BX12 1/12 Brushless 4WD Ready to Run Off-Road Racing Buggy
The ZD Racing BX12 1/12 Brushless 4WD Ready to Run Off-Road Racing Buggy is a high-performance RC buggy designed for dunes, dirt tracks, and rugged terrains. Powered by a 2845 3600kV brushless motor and 35A ESC, it reaches speeds up to 70 km/h. With a T6061 aluminum chassis, oil-filled shocks, and all-terrain tires, this off-road RC car offers durability and responsive handling for enthusiasts.
Performance
The BX12’s 2845 3600kV brushless motor and 35A ESC with BEC support 3S LiPo batteries, delivering speeds up to 70 km/h for thrilling races. The 4WD system, with powder-coated metal differentials and a 2W silicone oil-damped reduction gear, ensures smooth power transfer. Large-bore, adjustable oil-filled shocks and anti-sway bars enhance stability on jumps, though some users report spur gear exposure under the chassis, fixable with a guard. The 2.2kg metal-geared servo provides precise steering, but the soft servo saver may lock if clipped hard. Traction may be limited on wet surfaces, requiring tire upgrades for optimal grip.
Design and Features
The orange polycarbonate bodyshell, paired with a large wing for downforce, balances aesthetics and aerodynamics. The T6061 aluminum chassis and 3mm shock towers ensure durability, while lightweight nylon swing arms reduce weight. The all-terrain tires (narrow front, wide rear) offer grip on sand or gravel, though some note tire glue issues, fixable with reapplication. The absence of LED lights limits nighttime visibility, but aftermarket kits are compatible. The exposed spur gear and inaccessible on/off switch under the body may complicate use, though zip ties can secure components. Aftermarket parts, like metal gears, enhance longevity.
Ease of Use and Maintenance
The 2.4GHz 4-channel radio provides responsive control over a 180-meter range, suitable for all skill levels. The buggy requires a 3S 2200mAh LiPo battery and charger (not included), offering ~15–20-minute runtimes. Maintenance is straightforward with included tools (cross socket wrench, hex screwdrivers), though small screws may strip over time. The splash-proof ESC allows light wet use, but submersion is not advised. Battery compartment space is tight, requiring careful wire management.
Special Notes: This is a Ready to Run model, fully assembled with an orange bodyshell, 35A ESC, 2.2kg servo, and four AA transmitter batteries included. Requires a 3S 2200mAh LiPo battery and charger. Suitable for ages 16+ with aftermarket upgrade potential.
